Texas landed on college football's Week 3 lowlights before its game against UCLA even began.

Defensive tackle Desmond "Tank" Jackson apologized for his role in the pregame coin toss fiasco for the Longhorns before Saturday's 20-17 loss.

Jackson misunderstood that Texas had lost the coin toss to the Bruins, and elected to kick. Since UCLA had deferred to Texas, the Bruins got the ball at the beginning of both halves and scored a touchdown to open the second half.

Coach Charlie Strong said nerves contributed to Jackson's mistake.

"I said, 'What happened?' He said, 'I don't know, Coach. I was just so hyped up," Strong said after the game.

Jackson suffered an ankle injury during the game and left the stadium on crutches and with his foot in a boot. Strong offered no update on Jackson's status when addressing the media on Monday.
