Texas freshman QB Connor Brewer arrested
Texas freshman quarterback Connor Brewer was arrested for public intoxication early Saturday morning.
Brewer, who redshirted last season for Texas, was also ticketed for minor in possession by the University of Texas police department and was booked in the Travis County Booking facility early Saturday morning.
"We're aware of Connor's situation and are disappointed anytime one of our players is accused of wrongdoing," said Texas coach Mack Brown in a statement. "We've talked with his family and will continue to monitor the situation. Following the completion of the legal process, we will do what's best for the university, Connor and the team. We've always prided ourselves in our program's family atmosphere, and this will be handled within our family."
Brewer, 19 was a standout prep quarterback in Scottsdale, Ariz. He was the starting quarterback in last year's Under Armour All-America game and was ranked the 11th best QB by Scout.com
It's been a tough weekend for Texas. On Friday, offensive coordinator Major Applewhite acknowledged that
he was disciplined by the university for an inappropriate relationship
with a student during the Longhorns' trip to play in the Fiesta Bowl
after the 2008 season.
