ARLINGTON, Texas – Texas A&M defensive end Damontre Moore said Sunday morning he was still undecided as to whether or not he would declare for next year's NFL Draft.
He didn't take long to make up his mind.
Later Sunday, the junior All-American, who is expected to be a first-round pick, decided he will forgo his senior season at Texas A&M, making Friday's Cotton Bowl his final game with the Aggies.
"Today is a sad moment and a happy moment," Moore said in a statement on the team's web site. "It's always been a dream of mine to play in the NFL, but I've loved my time representing the 12th Man and with my teammates at Texas A&M. Wherever I go, I will always be an Aggie at heart."
Earlier Sunday Moore said that obtaining his degree was going to be a big factor in his decision and he expected to make his intentions known following the Cotton Bowl.
Moore ranks in the top 10 nationally in sacks per game and tackles for losses. He leads the Aggies in tackles, the first defensive lineman to lead the team in tackles since Sam Adams in 1993.
Moore might not be the lone Aggie leaving College Station early. Junior offensive lineman Luke Joeckel and Jake Matthews are also considered first-round picks if they decide to leave school early.
