TE Reed becomes latest Gator to go pro
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida tight end Jordan Reed is leaving school early and entering the NFL draft.
Reed announced his decision Friday, joining safety Matt Elam and defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd in skipping their senior season.
Reed, a junior from New London, Conn., led the team in receiving this season. He had 45 receptions for 559 yards and three touchdowns. He was a first-team, All-SEC selection by The Associated Press.
He says "now is the right time to pursue my dream of playing in the NFL."
Floyd and Elam announced their intentions following a loss in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday night.
Coach Will Muschamp says all three players "are all getting a chance to realize that dream. ... We wish them the very best of luck in the pursuit of their dreams."
