TCU has a coaching vacancy to fill.

Longtime defensive coordinator Dick Bumpas is retiring after 11 seasons at TCU, a school spokesman confirmed to FOX Sports Southwest.

TCU had 21 players sign letters of intent on Wednesday, but the spokesman could not confirm if they had been informed of Bumpas' intentions before signing.

Bumpas, 65, coordinated the Big 12's top-ranked defense in 2014, helping the Horned Frogs win their first league title. Bumpas was thrice named a Broyles Award finalist at TCU and has coached the defensive line in addition to his coordinator duties since 2004.
