MILWAUKEE -- As one former Wisconsin Badger exits the Milwaukee Bucks organization, another could be entering. Two days after the Bucks traded forward Jon Leuer -- the team's second-round pick in 2011 -- to the Houston Rockets, point guard Jordan Taylor and the Bucks are talking about Taylor taking a spot on Milwaukee's summer league roster.
This is the first of what could be several overtures made by NBA teams to Taylor. If Taylor receives an offer from another team that he and his agent, B.J. Armstrong, feel provides a better opportunity to make the final roster, Taylor could end talks with the Bucks.
As it stands right now, Milwaukee may not be an ideal situation for Taylor. The Bucks' point guard roster includes 22-year-old starter Brandon Jennings and veteran backup Beno Udrih. Milwaukee's second-round pick this year, Doron Lamb, is believed by the organization to be able to convert to a combo guard with some point guard responsibilities in a few years.
In Taylor's junior year, he was named as a first-team All-American by FOX Sports. In his four years at Wisconsin, Taylor was a starter in his final three. With his junior season being his best, Taylor, playing alongside Leuer, averaged 18.1 points and 4.7 assists that year. His statistics fell off a bit as a senior, averaging 14.8 points with a decline in 3-point and field-goal percentage.
