Tailback Justin Davis commits to Trojans

USC continued to build depth in its future running back corps Thursday when Justin Davis of Lincoln High in Stockton announced he would play for the Trojans in 2013.

The 6-foot, 195-pound Davis is the second tailback in 48 hours to commit to the Trojans. Ty Issac of Joliet Catholic in Joliet, Ill., announced Tuesday that he would attend USC.

High school players cannot sign letters of intent until February.

Davis, who chose USC over Cal and Washington, rushed for 2,380 yards and 36 touchdowns as a junior last season.

"I knew I was going to make my decision in May after seeing Cal and Washington,” Davis told USCfootball.com. “I felt like USC was the best fit for me all along, but I just didn't want to make a blind decision."

Davis joins a class that will include Max Browne, a quarterback from Skyline High in Sammamish, Wash., who committed to USC in April.

Meantime, USC will be thin at tailback this season.

Senior Curtiis McNeal and redshirt sophomore D.J. Morgan are the only tailbacks who have played for the Trojans. Redshirt sophomore Buck Allen was injured most of spring practice and converted linebacker Tre Madden suffered a season-ending knee injury.
