Swisher working his way back to the big leagues
Cleveland Indians first baseman Nick Swisher, coming off a stint on the disabled list, will make a rehab appearence with the Indians Single-A affiliate Lake County Captains starting Monday night.
Swisher has been dealing with inflammation in his left knee, and went to the DL for the second time this season on June 14.
Prior to injury, Swisher was hitting .198 with a .261 OBP and .297 SLG. Swisher took batting practice over the weekend with the Captains and will start in their games on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday, Swisher is expected to start in right field.
The Captains finish off their series with the Bowling Green Hot Rods Monday night and start a three game set with the Fort Wayne TinCaps on Tuesday.
Indians reliever Josh Tomlin, who underwent shoulder surgery at the end of spring training, will also make a rehab apperence, his second rehab start, Monday night with the Columbus Clippers. In his first rehab start, Tomlin gave up three runs on three hits, while walking two and striking out three over 3 and 2/3 innings.
