Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver breezed three easy furlongs at Churchill Downs in his first work since capturing the Run for the Roses.
Trainer Todd Pletcher said Monday he was pleased with the effort and believes Super Saver should have little trouble bouncing back for the Preakness on Saturday.
With jockey Calvin Borel aboard, Super Saver covered three-eighths of a mile in 36.60 seconds. Borel said the 3-year-old colt appeared to be sharp and no worse for wear after beating Ice Box by 2 1/2-lengths in the Derby on May 1.
Super Saver will likely be the favorite in what looks to be a full field of 14. Derby Trial winner Hurricane Ike, who is also headed to the Preakness, worked a half-mile in a quick 46.60 seconds.
