NEW YORK (AP) -- Nick Gilbert and the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the NBA lottery odds again. The Cavaliers won the lottery for the second time in three years Tuesday night to get the No. 1 pick for the June 27 draft.
Gilbert, owner Dan Gilbert's bowtie-wearing son, was on stage again for the victory. He also was there in 2011, when the Cavs won the top pick they used on eventual Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving.
The Orlando Magic fell back one spot to No. 2, while the Washington Wizards vaulted from the No. 8 spot to third. The Charlotte Bobcats will have the fourth pick, while the Phoenix Suns will select fifth.
For the Suns, it will be the second time in franchise history picking fifth. Phoenix selected Ring of Honor member Walter Davis with the No. 5 pick in the 1977 NBA draft.
The Suns, who own two first-round selections in this year’s draft, will also pick 30th overall.
The draft will take place on June 27 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
