Stoops congratulates Jones

Landry Jones seemed to be the forgotten man in Pittsiburgh.

The third-year, back-up quarterback for the Steelers had yet to play any meaningful minutes for the Steelers since being drafted by the team in 2013.

He was the third-team quarterback this season behind Ben Roethlisberger and Bruce Gradkowski. Well, Roethlisberger got hurt and so did Gradkowski. Still, that didn't put Jones into action. The Steelers signed Michael Vick, but when Vick got hurt last week against Arizona, Jones came in.

Jones went 8-for-12 and threw two touchdown passes as the Steelers beat the Cardinals 25-13.

"Loved it," Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said of his former quarterback's performance. "I texted him after the game, just really excited for him. It doesn't surprise me. You guys all saw him whip the ball around and what a great thrower he was. I didn't see the game, but I did see the highlights."
