Longtime Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. neither forgave nor forgot one particular insult thrown his way regarding his three-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens after the Panthers released him in March of last year.

A fella named Andy Parker of North Carolina dared to put down Smith, calling him washed up in a tweet that included an image of an elderly man hunched over, supporting himself with a cane. The exact date of that shot at Smith is unclear, but the feisty wideout waited until May 12, his 36th birthday, to respond:

The lesson remains: Don't poke Steve Smith. His trash talk game is second to none and he always backs it up. When the Panthers released him after 13 seasons, Smith promised that if the Ravens faced the Panthers to "put your goggles on cause there’s going to be blood and guts everywhere."

He made good on that with seven catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns in a Sept. 28 meeting between the teams, after which he declared, "I'm 35 years old, and I ran around those boys like they were schoolyard kids."

More pertinent to the lesson Smith taught Parker is this observation the wideout made after he quit Twitter for a spell in Oct. 2014:

If and when Smith ever does retire, he's got a career ahead of him policing keyboard muscles and Internet courage.
