CHESTER-LE-STREET, England (AP) Sri Lanka showed some fight to reach 162-3 after being forced to follow on in the second test against England on Sunday.

Kaushal Silva was 57 not out and captain Angelo Mathews unbeaten on 35 at tea on Day 3, although Sri Lanka was still facing a heavy loss at the Riverside Ground and a series defeat. The tourists are still 235 runs behind England's first innings of 498-9 declared.

England won the first test of the three-match series by an innings and 88 runs.
