Steve Spurrier just can’t help himself. No one is complaining, either.
The South Carolina coach and former Heisman winner has been a major draw at SEC Media Days for two decades, and 2012 was no different. He discussed everything from ...
Here are some of the day’s highlights:
-- “It’s easier to win the National Championship than the SEC. Ask Nick Saban.”
-- “They don’t fire media people, we found that out."
-- (On not having many upperclassmen early in his South Carolina tenure) “Nobody stuck around. If you stuck around four or five years at South Carolina, to me you were something special. You were a good, solid citizen."
-- (On assistant coaches being great recruiters) “’Coach, call this guy. He’s gonna commit to us.’ OK."
-- “Every time a sports writer asks me ‘How much longer are you going to coach?’ I think I need to ask him how much longer are you going to write?"
-- "You think I made the schedule? If I made the schedule, Georgia’d be playing LSU and we’d be playing Ole Miss.”
-- “We didn’t play Alabama and LSU [last season], that’s why were favored so much."
-- “There’s no moral victories in any sport.”
