NORMAN, Okla. - No news on the quarterback situation at Oklahoma on Tuesday.
Probably won't be tomorrow, either.
Oklahoma coaches are guarding any and all information about who the starter will be against Kansas State on Saturday like it's a national security issue.
"I'll defer to coach Stoops," offensive coordinator Josh Heupel said a day after coach Bob Stoops said there was no status update on Blake Bell and if there was, he wasn't about to talk about it.
Trevor Knight started the first two games of the season before being replaced by Bell, who has started every game since. Bell was apparently injured last Saturday, although Stoops isn't actually saying what happened. Bell looked to have suffered a head injury. He did not play in the second half. Knight took over and ran for 123 yards, including a touchdown in the 48-10 victory over Iowa State.
Stoops said on Monday he would not say who the starter was going to be against the Wildcats for the 11 a.m. Kickoff until Saturday.
Tuesday, neither of the two Sooner offensive coordinators would reveal much, either, however, Jay Norvell said, "Kendal (Thompson) is obviously getting more snaps and he practiced really well," suggesting someone is getting fewer snaps in practice, presumably the injured Bell.
Thompson was the third-string quarterback heading into the game against Iowa State. He replaced Knight when the game was out of hand in the fourth quarter and threw for a touchdown pass.
Saturday's win against Iowa State was the first time this season all three quarterbacks played in the same game.
