Oklahoma receiver Jordan Smallwood had surgery on his foot and could miss the season.

Coach Bob Stoops confirmed the surgery, which will repair damage done to the bones and ligaments in the middle of the foot. Smallwood suffered the injury while working out during the summer.

Stoops wouldn’t go as far as saying Smallwood would redshirt this year.

“We haven’t made that determination yet,” Stoops said.

The good news for the Sooners is they have plenty of returning help at receiver, including Jalen Saunders, Sterling Shepard, Trey Metoyer and Jaz Reynolds. Reynolds sat out all last year but has extensive experience. Shepard and Saunders combined for 107 catches last season.
