SLU's Kwamain Mitchell out with foot injury
Saint Louis senior point guard Kwamain Mitchell underwent a successful surgery Monday to repair a fracture in his left foot. He is expected to be in a cast and walking boot for up to six weeks. Otherwise, there is no specific timetable on when he will return to the court.
“Kwamain is an important part of our team,” SLU interim head coach Jim Crews said. “There is now an opportunity for others to step up in his place. We look forward to having Kwamain back playing this season. In the meantime, he will be very valuable on the bench as he is truly an extension of the coaching staff.”
Mitchell was tabbed a preseason first-team All-Conference selection at A-10 Media Day Oct. 4. Last year, he garnered third-team All-Conference plaudits after scoring 12.4 ppg and leading the team in assists (126) and steals (44).
