Slovakia, Swiss to host ice hockey worlds in 2019, 2020

PRAGUE (AP) The International Ice Hockey Federation says Slovakia will host the 2019 world championship and Switzerland the following year.

Slovakia will share the matches between the capital, Bratislava, and the second largest city of Kosice. They last hosted in 2011.

The Swiss, hosts in 2009, will locate games in Zurich and Lausanne.

Meanwhile, the attendance in the ongoing tournament in the Czech Republic broke the previous record of 640,044 last year in Minsk, Belarus. After the first two quarterfinals, Czech organizers reported a combined attendance of 652,348, and six games still to go.

The championship moves to Moscow and St. Petersburg in Russia next year.

Paris and the German city of Cologne will co-host the worlds in 2017, then Denmark for the first time in 2018.
