Six Lumberjacks named to College Sports Madness all-conference teams

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Six NAU football players were selected to the College Sports Madness Big Sky Preseason All-Conference teams.

NAU placed four players on offensive and two on defense.

First-team offense selections were senior tight end R.J. Rickert and sophomore offensive lineman Jacob Julian. Rickert, an All-American last season, caught 22 passes for a total of 246 yards. He played in 11 games and led all tight ends in receiving yards. Julian started all 12 games for the Lumberjacks and earned All-Big Sky Second Team honors a year ago.

Senior linebacker Austin Hasquet and junior cornerback Marcus Alford collected first-team defensive accolades. Hasquet, an academic All-American started all 12 games this past season and led the team with 91 tackles. Alford registered 26 tackles, five pass breakups, one interception and one fumble recovery during his sophomore season.

Senior offensive lineman Roy Garcia earned second team honors. He was a second team all-conference selection a year ago, and started all 12 games for NAU -- 11 at center.

Junior Ryan Hawkins was named third team offense. Hawkins appeared in all 12 games, made 8-of-9 PATs, recorded 58 kickoffs for an average of 61.4 yards per kick in 2013.
