Shazier flying up draft boards after blazing 40 time at OSU Pro Day
Ohio State linebacker Ryan Shazier was impressive at the NFL Scouting Combine, recording a 42-inch vertical leap and a 10-foot, 10-inch broad jump. He also passed the media interviews with flying colors.
He didn't, however, get a chance to showcase his speed at the Scouting Combine, passing on the 40-yard dash because of a tweaked hamstring. While continues to be hindered by the hamstring injury, he clocked an unofficial 4.36-second 40-yard dash at Ohio State's pro day on Friday, which is pretty fast for a 237-lb. linebacker.
The buzz is that Shazier is moving up draft boards after his blazing fast performance during his school's Pro Day, despite the fact he tweaked his hamstring again at the end of the run.
"I'm not really concerned about it because I was trying to rush it back so I can run for everybody, and they were telling me I shouldn't rush things," Shazier said via Cleveland.com.
"I knew I wanted to run a 4.4, around there in that range, and I got what I wanted."
After the 4.36 or 4.37 he laid down in front of about 70 NFL scouts and talent evaluators, including Philadelphia coach Chip Kelly, Minnesota coach Mike Zimmer, several general managers and many scouts, made his point.
