SG Sheldon McClellan transfers to Miami from Texas
Sheldon McClellan has left the University of Texas to play for the University of Miami, the Hurricanes announced Tuesday.
The Houston native spent the last two seasons with the Longhorns, with whom he averaged 13.5 points and 3.9 rebounds during his sophomore season.
"He is an outstanding shooter, scorer, athlete," Miami coach Jim Larranaga said of the 6-foot-4 guard.
During his senior season at Houston's Bellaire High School, McClellan was ranked as the nation's No. 11 shooting guard in 2011 by Scout.com.
In his first season with the Longhorns, McClellan averaged 11.3 points and 3.3 rebounds.
"Sheldon is a great compliment to recent signee (Kansas State transfer) Angel Rodriguez," Larranaga said. "These two will sit out and be prepared to play in the 2014-15 season, joining Tonye Jekiri's class, which will give us three juniors a year from now. This will balance our classes and will give us upperclassmen with lots of experience."
