Father Joe’s Villages

Established in 1950 to serve San Diegans experiencing homelessness and poverty, Father Joe’s Villages’ agency has grown to include a comprehensive campus and scattered-site programs that house nearly 1,900 people nightly—from infants and adolescents to adults and seniors. In 2016, they provided services to nearly 13,600 neighbors in need.

Father Joe’s Villages works to prevent and end homelessness for families, veterans, youth, single adults and people with disabilities in San Diego by providing solutions that are tailored to the unique needs of each person.

They offer a range of housing options that move adults and children into homes as efficiently as possible and provide intensive support to help them prosper there. Their coordinated and comprehensive services help adults regain self-sufficiency, permanent housing and a steady source of income, while children receive the customized care they need to thrive at home, school and beyond.

Father Joe’s Villages partners with each client to create a foundation of hope on which they can build strong, self-reliant households. Their Education and Employment Services program provides people access to computers, phones, sector-based job training, resume guidance and interview preparation. With the right skills, preparation and mentorship, people can secure the employment and permanent housing they need to end their homelessness. In addition, to employment services, Father Joe’s Villages provides healthcare, mental health services, addiction treatment, therapeutic childcare, showers, clothing and meals.

This mission – to end homelessness in San Diego, one life at a time – is made possible only through the efforts of compassionate staff, dedicated volunteers, and generous public and private donors.
