A second rape allegation against Missouri senior guard Michael Dixon has come to light, raising more questions about his future with the team.
A 2010 University of Missouri police incident report, first shared by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, details an accusation of rape in January of that year by a woman who was a university employee at the time. The alleged victim declined to press charges out of fear of retaliation, according to the report. The report also states that a nurse who examined the alleged victim said that she believed force was involved.
The accuser said she feared reprisals from Dixon, who allegedly told her that if she was pregnant, he would "kick her in the stomach and push her down the stairs," according to the report.
The revelation of the 2010 accusation comes two days after a Columbia Police Department report was made public that showed there was insufficient evidence to file criminal charges against Dixon, who was accused of forcible rape on Aug. 20.
Dixon has been suspended indefinitely since the season’s start for what coach Frank Haith called a violation of team rules in late October. The suspension followed an investigation by the University of Missouri Student Conduct Committee, which is comprised of faculty. The Post-Dispatch reports that it is believed the committee made a ruling on Dixon, with knowledge of the 2010 incident, and that his hope for reinstatement rests with an appeal to Chancellor Brady Deaton, unless Deaton chooses to "remand the matter for further proceedings," according to the University of Missouri System Rules of Procedure in Student Conduct.
Dixon continues to attend classes at MU. Haith has declined to comment on the specifics of Dixon’s suspension since it was announced.
