WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) Sebastian K trotted the fastest mile in harness racing history, finishing in 1:49 on Saturday night in the $100,000 Sun Invitational for older trotters at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

Sebastian K, an 8-year-old stallion who has raced four times in the U.S. since arriving from Sweden during the winter, broke the record of 1:49.3 set by Enough Talk in 2008.

Sebastian K, Sweden's Horse of the Year in 2012, was driven by trainer Ake Svanstedt.

''It's an amazing mile for a horse,'' assistant trainer Bernie Noren said. ''To have a horse like this, come here and do the world record with Ake as trainer and the driver, he's such a phenomenal animal.

''He really pushed him today to go for it and showcase harness racing. Next is the Maple Leaf in two weeks. Hopefully, no need for an elimination and we can go right to the final.

''He raced very handily last time, he usually waits, but last time he didn't, he just took off. He trained a mile Wednesday and he's been in the paddock all week, just enjoying life. That's what we do with all our horses, make sure they enjoy life.''

Sebastian K has won all four of his starts in the U.S. for owner Knutsson Trotting. He hasn't trotted slower than 1:50.3 and set a record for most wins in 1:50.3 or faster.

Modern Family was seven lengths back in second, and Arch Madness finished third.
