Seahawks QB Wilson homers taking batting practice with Rangers

Russell Wilson already is getting back in the swing of things.

He's not in Seattle working on a redemption season with the Seahawks yet. The 2014 Super Bowl championship-winning quarterback was at Texas Rangers spring training on Saturday in Arizona hitting home runs.

The Rangers drafted Wilson in the Rule 5 Draft in 2013. He hit .229, five home runs and 26 RBI playing Class-A ball for the Colorado Rockies in 2010-11.

Wilson was in camp with the Rangers for a second consecutive spring. He was in the dugout for Saturday's game against San Diego and delivered the lineup card before the contest.

Wilson worked out with the club in the morning, taking grounders before BP. The club didn't put him in the batting-practice group with sluggers like Adrian Beltre and Prince Fielder. Instead Wilson hit with the club's second group that featured shortstop Elvis Andrus, second baseman Rougned Odor and centerfielder Leonys Martin.

In addition to his on-field exploits, Wilson also talked with some current players and minor leaguers about his experiences of leading the Seahawks to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances.
