Warwick Saupold dominated through five innings, Bobby Parnell pitched a perfect ninth and the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens got their first nine-inning no-hitter since 1994 with a 5-0 victory over the Charlotte Knights on Saturday.
Jose Lima had the last no-hitter for the Mud Hens in a 3-0 victory over Pawtucket on Aug. 17, 1994. Toledo also had a seven-inning no-hitter in 1996.
Saupold struck out three and hit a batter over five innings, and Preston Guillmet followed with two perfect innings. Logan Kensing walked a batter in the eighth before Parnell, the former Mets closer, struck out one during a perfect ninth.
This was the ninth no-hitter for the Mud Hens, including a seven-inning perfect game by Joe Niekro in 1972.
