Santa Anita lands 2012 Breeders' Cup
The 2012 Breeders' Cup will be held at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., officials announced Wednesday.
It will mark the sixth time Santa Anita has been the site of the Breeders' Cup, the yearly culmination of the horse racing season featuring international fields and championship implications. Santa Anita last served as host in 2009.
"Santa Anita Park is a world-class racing venue that will once again provide a spectacular setting for two days of the best in international racing,” said Craig Fravel, the Breeders' Cup president.
The 2012 event will be Nov. 2-3.
This year's two-day event will be held for a second consecutive year at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., from Nov. 4-5. The Breeders' Cup features 15 races worth $25 million in prize money.
Also in the running for the 2012 Breeders' Cup were Belmont Park in New York and Churchill Downs.
