Sanders reaches 'Madden 25' cover final
First Joe Montana, and now Jerry Rice.
Barry Sanders, the Detroit Lions’ Hall of Fame running back, has eliminated both former San Francisco 49ers greats in a vote to determine who will appear on the cover to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Madden video game.
The final round comes down to Sanders, who retired in 1999, against current Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson, a semifinal winner over Houston’s Arian Foster.
It’s old school vs. new school for the title.
“Wow,” Sanders wrote in a message posted Wednesday on Twitter. “Just wow. I can’t believe I won, I can’t believe I beat THE Jerry Rice.
“I’m really doing Jerry a favor going up against Adrian Peterson," Sanders added. "He’s one of my favorites in the game. I know a lot of people share my opinion.”
The winner will be announced next week.
