Sale of Frisco Roughriders official to Greenberg group
Chuck Greenberg is officially back in the baseball business in the Metroplex.
Greenberg's ownership group had its purchase of the Frisco Roughriders finalized and approved by the Texas League, Major League Baseball and the Office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball.
Greenberg, who helped spearhead the Baseball Express group that won the Texas Rangers in an auction in 2010, now owns both the Double A (Frisco) and Single A (Myrtle Beach) of the Rangers.
"We are extremely excited to begin this new era of Frisco RoughRiders baseball and will begin immediately with our plan to provide an enhanced level of fun, affordable entertainment and value to our loyal 'Riders fans for the remainder of the 2014 season," said Greenberg, who will serve as Chairman, CEO and Managing Partner of the new ownership group. "Looking forward, we have already begun the process of planning and executing some dynamic additions and improvements to Dr Pepper Ballpark for the 2015 season and beyond, and we can't wait to unveil the specifics in the very near future."
