Saints not ruling Jimmy Graham out yet for against Lions

Published Oct. 16, 2014 5:36 p.m. ET

Don't rule Saints tight end Jimmy Graham out for this Sunday's showdown with the Detroit Lions just yet.

Analysts predicted Graham would be out 2-3 weeks with a shoulder injury, but Graham returned to practice Thursday, albeit in a limited capacity. Graham did not practice at all Wednesday.

Saints head coach Sean Payton says "We're still optimistic" about Graham's chances of playing.

Both running back Mark Ingram and fullback Eric Lorig practiced full Thursday, as did center Jonathan Goodwin.

Ramon Humber and Kyle Knox sat out Thursday with ankle injuries. Keenan Lewis (toe), Patrick Robinson (hamstring), Ronald Powell (illness) and running back Pierre Thomas (illness) did not practice either.
