Several members of the New Orleans Saints spent their final day of rest before resuming practice on Thursday spreading a little holiday cheer throughout the Crescent City.
Wednesday, players like punter Thomas Morstead and fullback Jed Collins spent time at the YMCA in Central City, handing out Thanksgiving turkeys to those less fortunate.
"This is the greatest part about being on the platform that we have: being able to give back to the city that supports us," Collins said.
The turkey give away is an annual tradition for the Black and Gold that the players look forward to almost as much as the recipients.
"These people are so appreciative, so it's nice to give back to them," Morstead said."They're all big Saints fans and they love us. It's awesome."
The Saints are enjoying a mini bye week after playing last Thursday in Atlanta. They don't face their next opponent, the Seattle Seahawks, until next Monday. The extra days off are precious, especially considering the Seahawks will be coming off their full bye week.
The duel between Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Seattle's Russell Wilson will play out at CenturyLink Field, which will be a big boost for the Seahawks as these two teams battle for home-field advantage in the playoffs.
