NEW YORK (AP) Sailmate stormed home to win the $80,000 allowance feature by a neck Friday at Belmont Park.
The 6-year-old, trained by John Kimmel and ridden by Junior Alvarado, edged Escapefromreality for his fifth win in 20 starts. The time for the mile was 1:36.72 on a track rated good.
Sailmate paid $10.20, $4.40 and $2.90. Escapefromreality, making his first start since winning the Albany Stakes at Saratoga last summer, returned $4 and $3. North Slope showed at $5.70.
