The NHL Department of Player Safety announced Tuesday that Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta has been suspended for 10 games following an illegal hit to the head of Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson.
The play occurred last Thursday night in Buffalo.
Kaleta approached Johnson from the side and in the judgement of the league's department of player safety made direct contact with Johnson's chin with his left shoulder.
The length of the suspension is a result of Kaleta's status as a repeat offender. This is his fourth suspension, and he has been fined three times.
