Royals P Coleman clears release waivers, becomes free agent
After being designated for assignment a week ago, Royals pitcher Louis Coleman has cleared release waivers and is now officially a free agent.
Coleman, 29, was drafted by the Royals in the fifth round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. The right-hander has pitched for the big-league club in each of the past five seasons, posting a career record of 6-4 with two saves and a 3.20 ERA in 152 games.
Coleman pitched in four games during the Royals' world championship 2015 season, allowing no runs and one hit over three innings and winning his only decision.
