Royals option Skoglund, recall Flynn from Triple-A
Eric Skoglund was knocked around in Sunday's short-lived start against the Indians.
After a tough start on Sunday, the Royals have optioned Eric Skoglund to Triple-A Omaha. In a corresponding move, the team recalled pitcher Brian Flynn.
Skoglund was knocked around in Sunday's short-lived start against the Cleveland Indians. He was charged with allowing seven earned runs on seven hits over 1 1/3 innings. The Indians would go on to take a 12-0 lead by the end of the second inning and won by the same score. Royals pitcher Onelki Garcia came on in relief of Skoglund, allowing five earned runs over 5 2/3 innings, helping save a good portion of the team's bullpen in mop-up duty.
Flynn has struggled overall this season with the Storm Chasers but appears to be on the right track as of late. He owns a 5-3 record with a 5.40 ERA on the season. However, in his last 10 games the left-hander has gone 2-2 with a 2.84 ERA. He appeared in 36 games with the Royals last year. He has yet to appear in one on the major league level this season.
