Royals game Saturday at Chicago rained out; makeup date TBD
CHICAGO -- Saturday's game between the Royals and the White Sox was postponed due to rain in Chicago. The continuation of Friday's game was also postponed.
Friday's game will resume at 1:10 p.m. Sunday with the regularly scheduled Sunday tilt to follow. A date was not set for the rescheduling of Saturday's contest.
There are a few options for rescheduling Saturday's game. The Royals have off days both before (May 28) and after (June 1) their series with the Cubs in Chicago. The White Sox also have those days off, but will be in the midst of a nine-game road trip through Toronto, Houston and Texas.
The teams also share an off day June 11. Chicago will have polished off a six-day homestand while Kansas City will be traveling from Minnesota to St. Louis.
The Royals will visit U.S. Cellular Field twice more this season, once immediately after the All-Star break and again during the final week of the season. Either occasion could welcome a doubleheader.
Friday's game was halted in the top of the ninth inning with Chicago and Kansas City tied at two because of worsening playing conditions due to steady rain. It was scheduled to be resumed at 1:10 p.m. Saturday but was pushed back another 24 hours.
