Romo responds to 'World's Team' statement
IRVING, Texas — When Pittsburgh reporters chatted with Tony Romo during a Wednesday conference call they asked him about an interesting comment recently made by Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
According to the reporter asking the question, Roethliberger said "Tony's the quarterback of America's Team and I think I'm the quarterback of The World's Team."
But the Cowboys quarterback wasn't taking the bait.
Romo responded with laughter before saying he doesn't view being the quarterback of the Cowboys "in any capacity."
"I think Ben knows how to have fun with you guys," Romo added. "He's probably talked to you enough. He plays for a franchise that's had great success over the years, for a long time in the NFL. We obviously have had success over the last 50 years as well, and I think you look at a couple of very, very strong franchises that have been around for a long time and it's just great to play for organizations like this. I think that's all he's telling you."
The Cowboys and Steelers have each played in a league-leading eight Super Bowls. The Steelers have a league-high six Super Bowl victories and the Cowboys are tied with the San Francisco 49ers for second with five wins each.
