Jason Garrett talked Monday about taking the good with the bad when you have Tony Romo at quarterback.
"You're going to have some plays that you don't like, and you have to live with those, and we've had a few of those," Garrett said. "But at the same time, you have to allow for the other ones. You have to be balanced in how you evaluate it."
On Tuesday, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones discussed Romo's ability to escape three of Philadelphia's best pass rushers and find Miles Austin for a 25-yard gain on Sunday. The play came on third down with the Cowboys trailing 17-10. Some would argue that it was the most important play in the Cowboys' 38-23 victory.
"I don't know of anybody that can make those three or four plays that he made that for all practical purposes were the difference in the game," Jones said. "Yet, at the same time, he played a game at quarterback that was very smart and did not have the ball turned over."
But there's the other side of Romo that sometimes scares Jones. That's the Romo that flips the ball to Felix Jones while both players are being swarmed by defenders. The play resulted in a four-yard gain early in the second quarter. Jerry Jones was just pleased that there wasn't a turnover similar to the one Lance Briggs returned for a touchdown when the Cowboys lost to the Chicago Bears, 34-18, in Week 4.
"A hand comes out and it bounces that over and you got a turnover and you say, ‘Well, there goes Tony.' Well, the same thing that caused him to do that is the one that caused him to make that absolutely great play when he eluded all of those tacklers and threw it down field," Jerry Jones said. "You say, ‘Well, that's what we've got.' Well, again, we've got to continue to work, and Tony does. He knows it more than I know it, you know it or anybody that he's got to continue to work to not make a play that is turned the other way against us."
