Rockets' Parsons: 'I talk to Dwight every day'
Chandler Parsons is motivated to win a championship, but he knows his young Houston Rockets team could use some more size and experience to reach that level.
After watching the Miami Heat hoist the Larry O'Brien Trophy this week, he sent a simple text message to Dwight Howard, one of the biggest free-agents this offseason.
"'Come to Houston. That could be us,'" Parson said, according to the Houston Chronicle.
But that wasn't the first time he has reached out to the Los Angeles Lakers big man. Parsons has apparently been doing his part in recruiting Howard to Houston.
"I talk to Dwight every day," Parsons told the Houston Chronicle. "I've created a relationship with him, where I feel like we're very close."
Howard has several teams vying in his services, but hasn't announced any desired destinations yet. However, he has been listening to Parson's pitch and seems to be interested in what the Rockets have to offer.
"He hits me up about everything," Parsons said. "I've covered pretty much every question he’s had.
"That’s the main point I’ve gotten from talking to him. He wants to win. He wants to win rings. It's obvious there is no better fit, no better team or opportunity to do that than with us."
Howard joined the Lakers last summer in hopes of getting his first championship ring, but it was a disastrous season that ended with a sweep in the first-round of the playoffs.
