It's the first weekend in June, and it's 105 degrees in Tucson. If you're University of Arizona football coach Rich Rodriguez, it's time to bring in some young, impressionable high school football players for another installment of the annual Rich Rodriguez Football Camps.

On this particular day, it's a 7-on-7 Passing Tournament and the Big Man Competition under the watchful eyes of Rodriguez and his Arizona coaching staff from 8:30 a.m. through 5 p.m.

For $45, participants are treated to instruction, round-robin games, linemen drill stations, weight-room and film sessions and award presentations.

And just because it's really, really hot — don't forget the post-practice slip and slide. RichRod and his coaches were happy to lend their expertise in this regard, too, as this Arizona athletic department video so coolly demonstrates.

"That's about as inexpensive and harmless an activity you could do," Rodriguez said.
"We put a pad out there with dish detergent and had a little fun with it.

"I did it to cool off. That's why I did it myself, as well as some of the other coaches. I told the campers to come in. Plus some of them probably smelled a bit, so their parents probably appreciated it. "
