Richies Party Girl wins Wait a While Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) Richies Party Girl captured a second stakes in the $98,000 Wait a While for 3-year-old fillies Sunday at Belmont Park.

Richies Party Girl and jockey John Velazquez took charge at the top of the stretch and held off a late rally from 1-2 favorite Sweet Acclaim, prevailing by three quarters of a length.

It was her fourth victory in eight starts, including the Juvenile Turf Sprint at Santa Anita last November, for trainer and co-owner Wesley Ward. She paid $7.90, $3.30 and $2.50.

The time was 1:21.84 for seven furlongs on the turf course rated good.

Sweet Acclaim returned $2.20 and $2.10 while Lemon Point paid $2.80 to show.
