COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Jose Goncalves scored off a corner kick in the second minute of second half stoppage time and Diego Fagundez added a goal two minutes later to give the New England Revolution a 2-0 victory against the Columbus Crew on Saturday.
Goncalves got his first goal of the season by heading the cross from Lee Nguyen. The ball skipped by goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum as A.J. Soares provided a distraction in front. Nguyen then took advantage of a turnover to pass to Fagundez for his sixth goal.
New England (7-7-6) entered the game tied for the stingiest defense in MLS and earned its 11th shutout.
Revolution goalie Bobby Shuttleworth has nine of them as he made two saves. The Crew (6-9-5) was blanked for the fifth time.
