The Atlanta Hawks have reached a multi-year agreement with Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap, according to multiple media outlets.
With the Jazz last season, his seventh NBA campaign, Millsap averaged 14.6 points and 7.1 rebounds, while shooting 49 percent from the field. He also tallied 15 double-doubles for the year, including a 20-point, 13-rebound, five-assist effort against the Hawks (Jan. 11 at Atlanta).
From 2009-13, Millsap averaged double-digit points and at least seven rebounds for five consecutive seasons.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Millsap's deal covers two years and approximately $19 million.
The NBA's salary cap for 2013-14 is projected to be around $70.6 million, incrementally higher than last season. Prior to last week's draft, Al Horford, John Jenkins and Louis Williams were the only Atlanta players under contract.
Since then, the club has drafted Germany guard Dennis Schroeder (Round 1), Brazilian forward Lucas Nogueira (Round 1) and Bucknell forward Mike Muscala (Round 2), traded for forward Jared Cunningham (draft night) and reportedly agreed to terms with current Hawks sharpshooter Kyle Korver.
The team also holds one-way options on Hawks reserves Shelvin Mack and Mike Scott.
The signing-moratorium period of NBA free agency runs from July 1-9. After that, teams are free to sign restricted and unrestricted assets.
Of last year's Hawks, Josh Smith, Zaza Pachulia, Devin Harris, Johan Petro, DeShawn Stevenson, Ivan Johnson (restricted) and point guard Jeff Teague (restricted) remain on the open market.
