Reports: Ex-skater Harding is pregnant
Tonya Harding, the Olympic figure skater best known for her role in a stunning attack on American rival Nancy Kerrigan in 1994, is pregnant according to numerous media reports Friday.
Harding, 40, and husband Joseph Price, are expecting a boy, the reports said. The couple live in Yacolt, Wash. It will be Harding’s first child.
Harding, the first woman to land a triple axel in a major competition, became notorious when her then-husband, Jeff Gillooly, and two associates were convicted of attacking Kerrigan at the site of the 1994 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
One of the men struck Kerrigan near the knee with a baton, forcing her to withdraw from the event, which Harding went on to win to qualify for the Olympics.
Harding denied involvement in the attack but later entered a guily plea to a charge of conspiring to hinder prosecution of the attackers. She was convicted and sentenced to three years of probation.
