Report: 'Zero chance' NFL gives Tom Brady ruling Friday
By Darren Hartwell
Are you planning on getting an early start to your weekend, but don’t want to miss out on potential Tom Brady news?
Start packing those bags.
There is “zero chance” the NFL makes a ruling Friday on Tom Brady’s four-game suspension for his role in Deflategate, a source told ESPN’s Ed Werder on Friday morning.
A few reports and rumblings about negotiations between Brady’s camp and the league sparked speculation that a ruling could be forthcoming, especially with training camp less than a week away.
ProFootballTalk reported Thursday that the New England Patriots quarterback’s representatives had discussed a possible settlement with commissioner Roger Goodell that would avoid Brady potentially going to federal court, but a subsequent ESPN report said Goodell and the leaguemet that proposal with “silence.”
It now has been over a month since Brady officially appealed his suspension during a closed-door meeting at the league offices in New York. It looks like we’ll have to wait until at least next week, but the hope is that a verdict will come down before the Patriots open camp Thursday.
Goodell said at a luncheon Tuesday there is “no timeline” for a ruling on Brady.
