Report: Wild's Heatley suing former agent
Minnesota Wild forward Dany Heatley is suing his former agent and business adviser, Stacey McAlpine, and McAlpine’s parents for $11 million (Canadian), according to the Toronto Globe and Mail.
The Globe and Mail reports that Heatley is alleging the defendants lured him into several real estate investments in the United States and Canada with promises of huge returns that never came to fruition. The paper reports that the lawsuit, filed last week in Calgary, also alleges that McAlpine dipped into his bank accounts and made unauthorized withdrawals worth more than $4 million (Canadian).
Heatley, 31, was acquired by the Wild in a trade with the San Jose Sharks before last season and went on to lead Minnesota in goals (24) was second on the team in assists (39). The three-time All-Star has scored more than 40 goals four times in his NHL career.
