Report: UW, 'Bama discussing 2015 game
For University of Wisconsin football fans hoping the team adds some beef to its nonconference schedule, some good news may be on the horizon.
According to the Birmingham (Ala.) News, Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez is in talks to have Wisconsin open the 2015 season against Alabama.
"I can't announce anything, but we're still talking about playing the game," Alvarez said during a speaking engagement in Mobile on Monday. "We haven't signed anything, but we are in discussion."
Alabama, the defending national champion, is ranked No. 1 in the country again this season.
Alvarez has pursued other high-profile matchups before. There once was discussion about playing Notre Dame, but a contract never materialized.
Wisconsin is slowly building up its nonconference schedule over the next few seasons. The Badgers will play at Arizona State next season and at home against BYU. Home-and-home games against Washington State, Virginia Tech and Washington also are on the schedule through 2019.
