Report: Texas worried about losing 'war' with Texas A&M

Things aren't going well for the University of Texas lately, and not just with their football program.

Though Mack Brown and the football program has taken their fair share of beatings on and off the field over the past couple of years, other programs have also underperformed including the men's basketball and baseball programs.

Things are so bad, apparently, that the officials in Austin are "really paranoid" about Texas A&M and their increasingly rising popularity.

One "high-level UT source" revealed to The Dallas Morning News that decision-makers are "increasingly preoccupied Texas A&M.

"What they are concerned about is not just a football season or a football team," the source revealed. "What they're concerned about is that we're going to lose this kind-of war to A&M. They are really paranoid about A&M. And not just in sports, by the way."

The Aggies have seen their popularity rise since they joined the SEC and Johnny Manziel took the college football world by storm.
Last month, Texas A&M announced new records for enrollment and donations. For the fall 2013 semester, College Station saw a 58,809 record enrollment and between Sept. 1, 2012 and Aug. 1, 2013, the university received $740 million in donations and pledges.

"When those numbers came out, that kind of sent a shockwave," said the source.

Earlier in the season, Mack Brown has to defuse an Aggie football player on Twitter pronouncing Texas A&M had become the premier university in the state of Texas.

If this source is turns out to be credible, maybe things are worst than they appear.
