Report: Soccer fans banned for 3 years
German soccer club FC Cologne announced Thursday three fans accused of throwing urine and feces during a German league game have been handed a thee-year nationwide ban from all German stadiums.
The three fans reportedly threw cups filled with urine and feces onto a group of Schalke fans during Cologne's 5-1 away loss in Gelsenkirchen.
"The three offenders have been identified and in all cases are banned from stadiums nationwide with immediate effect," said Rainer Mendel, a spokesman for Cologne's fans.
"We have made it clear that we will not tolerate such behavior and strongly condemn what has happened."
The offenders were identified via video footage of the incident and through witness statements.
The three-year ban is the maximum punishment allowed, according to the statement on FC Cologne's website.
