Report: QB Sanchez comes up in Bucs talks

How the mighty have fallen.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Jets have talked a potential Darrelle Revis trade for a while. But a new name surfaced Friday in a possible package that would ship the four-time Pro Bowl cornerback to the Bucs, who are searching for an answer to help fix the NFL’s worst pass defense last season.
Mark Sanchez. Yes, Pro Football Talk reported that Sanchez’s guaranteed base salary of $8.25 million for 2013 is such an issue for Gang Green that they would be happy to pass that commitment southward.
Josh Freeman, who threw for a career-high 4,065 yards last year, seems to be the Bucs’ answer behind center for now. However, coach Greg Schiano wouldn’t mind seeing the fifth-year quarterback pushed more this fall, and current backup Dan Orlovsky doesn't exactly fill that role.
It seems unlikely that Tampa Bay would agree to take on Sanchez’s hefty deal. Still, mention of him in the Revis talks shows how much the Jets think of the former fifth overall pick.
